Head Varsity Co-ed Tennis Coach

About the Role:

Lakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle is currently recruiting for a Head Varsity Co-ed Tennis Coach. The season begins March 2, 2026 and concludes at the latest on Saturday, May 23, 2026. A required preseason coaches meeting will be held on February 9, 3:30-6:30 pm.

 Responsibilities

The head varsity tennis coach, reporting to the director of athletics, will join an athletics program that includes 26 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. The tennis program includes two varsity teams (boys and girls) and two JV teams (boys and girls). The head varsity tennis coach will be responsible for coaching duties with the varsity teams and supporting the JV program, as well as other program-wide duties as assigned by the director of athletics.  Specific responsibilities include:

1. Compliance with all Lakeside School, Metro League, and WIAA policies and procedures.
2. Commitment to providing supports, messaging, actions, and opportunities to a diverse student body who come to school with different and evolving lived experiences and levels of preparation as athletes.
3. Supervision and instruction of student-athletes during team activities.
4. Maintenance and inventory of team equipment and apparel.
5. Oversight of JV coaches and JV practice plans.
6. Attendance at required program and interscholastic athletics program meetings.
7. Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes.
8. Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes.

Requirements and Qualifications

1. At least 25 years of age with a clean driving record.  
2. Be available for all practices and competitions from 3pm daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required. Post-season matches require full-day commitments for several days over three weeks. 
3. Experience coaching tennis teams at the club, high school or college level is required.
4. Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. Candidates will understand different perspectives, interact respectfully with cultures other than their own, and cultivate meaningful relationships with people who have different cultural frameworks.   
5. Possess or obtain prior to the start of the season current First Aid/CPR certification. 
6. Satisfactorily complete at least two criminal background checks.

Compensation

Stipend Range: $8,000-$10,000
