A Maintenance Generalist is a versatile skilled worker who performs a wide range of routine and complex upkeep, repairs, and preventive maintenance on buildings, grounds, and machinery, handling tasks from fixing leaky faucets (plumbing), light electrical, carpentry, painting, to servicing equipment, often knowing when to call a specialized tradesperson like a plumber or electrician. They ensure smooth facility operations, working in places like factories, hospitals, offices, and residential properties, using hand/power tools and diagnosing issues to keep everything running efficiently. Key Responsibilities
- Repairs: Fixing/replacing parts in mechanical systems, electrical switches, outlets, and plumbing.
- Preventive Maintenance: Inspecting, cleaning, and lubricating machinery, checking fluid levels, and performing routine checks to prevent breakdowns.
- Building Upkeep: Painting walls, repairing doors/windows, floors, and general cleaning.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing problems with equipment and structures, using blueprints/manuals to find solutions.
- Coordination: Ordering supplies, managing work orders, and sometimes leading or assisting specialized trades.
- Fire systems: Checking fire strobes, units. etc.
