Location: Cumberland, Maine, with frequent travel to jobsites across the state.
Reports To: Senior Project Manager /Project Manager

Position Overview

The Demolition Foreman is responsible for leading and working alongside a crew in performing concrete sawing, drilling, demolition, and removal on construction projects. This position requires strong leadership, effective communication, and the ability to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work. The Foreman will supervise laborers, maintain compliance with safety standards, and coordinate with project supervisors and company management.

This role is considered a “working foreman,” meaning the individual will actively participate in physical job duties while also overseeing and coaching crew members.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision

• Supervise, train, and coach a crew of employees, ensuring adherence to company procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Direct and assign tasks to crew members, monitor performance, and communicate concerns to the Demolition Supervisor.
• Recommend corrective action or progressive discipline when employees fail to meet expectations.
• Lead daily pre-task safety and work planning discussions with the crew.
• Serve as a role model for punctuality, professionalism, and work ethic.

Job Performance & Documentation

• Perform demolition, and other activities safely and effectively.
• Read and follow written and verbal work instructions, ensuring clarity when project scope is not fully defined.
• Complete and submit work orders for each job on a daily basis.
• Communicate professionally with general contractors, site supervisors, clients, and coworkers to maintain positive working relationships.
• Assess structural conditions before any demolition. Verify utilities (electrical, plumbing, sprinkler, communications, etc.) are identified and safe to work around.
• Recommend changes to work methods, schedules, or procedures to improve efficiency and safety.
• Coordinate personnel, equipment, and material needs with the Demolition Supervisor.
• Report equipment and vehicle repair needs promptly to the Shop Mechanic.

· Accurately record time worked using the company’s electronic timekeeping system.

· Complete and submit a pre-trip inspection for any assigned work vehicle at the start of each work week.

· Obtain and review daily work orders from the supervisor before beginning work.

· Prepare company truck with the tools, equipment, and materials necessary to complete assigned projects.

· Arrive at designated jobsites on schedule and ready to begin work.

· Document jobsite conditions by photographing the work area with the CompanyCam app before starting tasks.

· Conduct a site safety inspection prior to beginning work; identify hazards, perform a pre-task analysis, determine corrective actions or use of PPE, and stop work to notify the supervisor if conditions remain unsafe. Notify the customer and/or responsible parties if hazards are created by another contractor.

· Inspect major operable equipment and rented equipment daily and submit inspection reports.

· Notify the supervisor immediately if actual site conditions differ from those listed on the work order.

· Complete assigned tasks within scheduled timeframes; notify the supervisor promptly if estimates cannot be met.

· Document work completion by photographing finished work, waste disposal, and cleanup efforts using the CompanyCam app.

· Meet with customers in person, when possible, to verify satisfaction prior to leaving the jobsite.

· Record and report work details, including the number of cuts and cores, thickness and diameter, and for slab removal projects provide sketches with measurements.

· Submit one completed work order for each project at the end of each day.

Equipment Operation

• Operate hand tools and demolition equipment (e.g., sledgehammers, jackhammers, drills, grinders, saws).
• Operate light to mid-size equipment including scissor lifts, boom lifts, skid steers, mini excavators, and floor scrapers (training available as needed).
• Safely operate company vehicles including flatbed trucks, 15-passenger vans, and towing equipment trailers up to 30’.
• Perform basic vehicle/equipment maintenance checks and report issues immediately.

Safety

• Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures at all times.
• Ensure crew members wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, and safety vests.
• Hold crew accountable for unsafe behaviors or non-compliance with safety rules.
• Stop work immediately when unsafe conditions or incidents occur.
• Notify management immediately in the event of injuries, near misses, or emergencies, and complete appropriate reports before the end of the shift.
• Actively identify and correct safety hazards on the jobsite.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to assess structural integrity and recognize unsafe conditions.
• Basic understanding of vehicle and equipment operation/maintenance.

· Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally.

· Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching.

· Ability to climb ladders, access scaffolding, and work at various heights.

· Ability to safely navigate uneven terrain, excavation areas, and active construction sites.

· Frequent exposure to dusty, noisy, and physically demanding environments.

· Ability to wear and properly use required PPE, including hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, respirators, and high-visibility vests.

· Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel long distances to and from job sites, often for multiple hours per day.

· Manual dexterity to operate small tools, computers, and job-related equipment as needed.

· Visual and auditory capacity to identify hazards, communicate effectively, and ensure safety compliance on active jobsites.

Workplace Conditions

· Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–4:00 PM (some mornings earlier); occasional weekend availability (typically via phone or laptop).

• Frequent travel across Maine with exposure to outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
• Work around moving vehicles, heavy machinery, dust, fumes, and fuel.
• Fast-paced environment requiring adaptability and multitasking.
• Regular communication with supervisors, crews, and customers across multiple job sites.
