Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our team. We support folks diagnosed with mental illness/emotional disturbance to live in the community of Dickinson County, Iowa. We support folks in their homes and in our group homes. You are responsible for performing a wide range of repairs and upkeep to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the homes, including general repairs, plumbing, carpentry, work. This role involves responding to maintenance requests, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring all properties meet safety and quality standards. The job requires physical stamina, technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and sometimes on-call availability. Snow removal and keeping walkways ice free is of course part of the job given our location!
Essential Knowledge and Qualifications
- Prior experience appreciated providing facilities, home, and vehicle maintenance for an organization.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and an ability to perform routine building and ground maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- General knowledge of and experience using maintenance related tools, and equipment.
- Experience and ability performing physical work throughout an 8 hour shift including:
- Kneel, crouching, stooping, climbing stairs/ladders.
- Push and pull heavy objects (with assistance, wheels, etc.) .
- Lift up to 75 pounds throughout a shift.
- Use hand(s) to grasp, pull, manipulate tools, machinery, and other objects.
- The ability to work above ground level.
- Move from numerous work sites throughout the workday, transporting tools, as well as equipment.
- Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets insurance requirements; ability to drive an organizational vehicle.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively throughout the organization; must be fluent reading and speaking English.
- Manage multiple service requests and priorities to ensure work is completed in a timely and productive manner.
Pay: $17.50 - $20.00 per hour
