The Financial Counselor position requires fundamental knowledge of LRH collection policy, financial policy as well as other options for financial assistance. The Financial Counselor will have knowledge of all aspects of the department process from registration process thru the billing process.

- Standard Work: Financial Counselor
- Responsible for financially clearing patients for pre-registration.
- Timely Review and Quality Assurance of Non-PHP patients/adjustments; Payroll Deductions; input of Famcare; and copay medication assistance adjustments
- Timely review of Pending Medicaid; Risk Management review requests; Follow up on charity expiring; and chemotherapy/radiation insurance clearance reviews
- Timely review of Charity Pending requests; iVita requests; workque requests in Epic for FA and follow up for helping patients with copay medication assistance sign up
- Timely review of incoming mail and follow up on all Financial Assistance requests through email/MyChart/telephone and work with vendor for medication assistance Maintain knowledge base of all programs offered by LRH for Charity and Financial Assistance and the requirements to qualify.

Essential:
- High School or Equivalent
- Associate Degree
Other information:
Essential Experience:
- 2 years general patient accounting experience
- Professional customer service skills
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, PPO and Commercial guidelines
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel and other Microsoft applications
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of Accounting Principles; analytical mathematical skills
- 4 years general patient accounting experience

- AAHAM or HRMA certification
