Registered Nurse (RN) – Supporting Group Fitness & Wellness Programs

Shift Needed: 8:30 - 11:30 AM, as needed

The Lakeland Hills Family YMCA is seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to support our Health & Wellness Department. This unique role blends clinical expertise with community wellness, providing an opportunity to help individuals improve their health, confidence, and quality of life in a supportive fitness environment.

What You'll Do

As a member of our Health & Wellness team, you will:

• Supervise medical exercise workouts during active program hours.
• Conduct initial medical history interviews for new program participants.
• Perform annual medical history reviews, including updates on cardiac status and medications.
• Monitor and document vital signs before, during, and after exercise sessions.
• Provide education and guidance related to exercise, nutrition, health management, and medications as appropriate.
• Support participants by promoting safe exercise habits and injury prevention.
• Encourage and motivate individuals throughout their wellness journey.
• Adapt exercise recommendations based on participant needs and abilities.
• Foster a welcoming, positive, and inclusive environment.
• Maintain professionalism, participant confidentiality, and program standards.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures

Required

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
• Current RN license in good standing.
• Current or previous experience in a critical care setting, including:
  • ICU
  • CCU
  • Emergency Department (ER)
  • PACU
  • Telemetry
• Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain and maintain certification.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures and first aid practices.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
• Commitment to participant safety, wellness, and customer service.
• Ability to successfully pass required background screenings and maintain a clean criminal record.

Preferred

• Interest or experience in cardiac rehabilitation, wellness coaching, community health, or fitness programming.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
