Retail Sales Associate

Lakehouse Candle Company is looking for a dependable, outgoing Sales Associate to join our team.

We’re a locally owned candle shop that believes shopping should feel personal, welcoming, and memorable. Our customers come here for more than candles—they come for the experience. We love creating a space where people feel comfortable, inspired, and genuinely cared for.

What You’ll Do

· Welcome every customer with a warm, friendly, and engaging attitude.

· Build genuine connections and help customers find products they’ll truly enjoy.

· Learn about our fragrances, products, and candle care so you can confidently answer questions and make thoughtful recommendations.

· Operate our point-of-sale system and process transactions accurately.

· Help maintain a clean, organized, fully stocked, and inviting retail environment.

· Take initiative during slower periods by restocking merchandise, cleaning, labeling products, organizing inventory, and completing other tasks that keep the store running smoothly.

· Assist with light product preparation and other behind-the-scenes tasks as needed.

· Enjoy balancing customer interaction with hands-on work such as stocking, organizing, cleaning, merchandising, and preparing products.

· Help create a positive shopping experience from the moment customers walk through the door until they leave.

· Is excited to learn about fragrance, candle care, and the products we create.

· Is self-motivated, works with a sense of urgency, and naturally looks for ways to stay productive without being asked.

· Pays close attention to detail while working efficiently and accurately.

· Can adapt easily between busy rushes and quieter moments.

· Takes pride in keeping the store clean, organized, and welcoming.

· Welcomes feedback and coaching as opportunities to learn and grow.

· Is reliable, punctual, and committed to showing up for every scheduled shift.

· Works well independently while also being a supportive member of a small team.

Schedule

· Approximately 18–24 hours per week

· Most shifts are scheduled during our business hours, approximately 10:00 AM–6:00 PM

· Weekend availability is required (Saturday and/or Sunday)

· Must also be available for several weekday daytime shifts

· Scheduling is generally consistent but may vary during holidays and seasonal business needs.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a shift.

· Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

· Comfortable performing light cleaning, stocking, merchandising, and other physical retail tasks.

Preferred Experience

Retail, hospitality, restaurant, tourism, or customer service experience is preferred, but we are happy to train the right person with a great attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
