Candle Experience Guide

Lakehouse Candle Company
Nashville, IN Part Time
POSTED ON 7/28/2026 CLOSED ON 8/13/2026

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Candle Experience Guide position at Lakehouse Candle Company?

Do you love making people feel welcome?

Are you naturally curious, creative, and energized by helping people create meaningful memories?

Lakehouse Candle Company is looking for a Candle Experience Guide to join our team and help lead guests through our signature candle-making experiences.

This isn't traditional retail.

Our guests aren't simply buying a candle - they're celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, girls' weekends, family vacations, date nights, and special moments together. They come to slow down, create something with their hands, and leave with both a candle and a memory they'll treasure.

We aren't looking for someone to simply demonstrate how to make a candle. We're looking for someone who enjoys helping people slow down, explore, connect, laugh, and create something meaningful together.

No previous candle-making experience is required. We'll teach you everything you need to know about fragrance blending and candle pouring. What matters most is your ability to connect with people, make them feel comfortable, and create an experience they'll never forget.

What You'll Do

  • Welcome every guest with warmth, enthusiasm, and genuine hospitality.
  • Guide individuals and groups through our candle-making experience from beginning to end.
  • Help guests discover fragrance combinations they'll love by asking thoughtful questions and listening carefully.
  • Teach candle-making techniques in a relaxed, engaging, and encouraging way.
  • Create an atmosphere that feels welcoming, unhurried, and fun.
  • Keep workshops running smoothly while ensuring every guest feels seen, included, and supported.
  • Answer questions about fragrances, products, and candle care.
  • Maintain a beautiful, organized, and spotless candle bar.
  • Prepare materials before workshops and clean up afterward.
  • Assist with retail sales and thoughtful product recommendations when not leading experiences.
  • Help with light production, labeling, stocking, organizing, and other tasks that support the business.

We're Looking for Someone Who...

  • Genuinely enjoys meeting and talking with new people.
  • Makes others feel comfortable quickly.
  • Is a confident communicator who enjoys teaching, explaining, and encouraging others.
  • Can comfortably lead small groups with warmth, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
  • Is naturally curious and enjoys helping people discover something new.
  • Notices when guests need help, even before they ask.
  • Is self-motivated, works with a sense of urgency, and naturally looks for ways to stay productive without being asked.
  • Pays close attention to detail while working efficiently and accurately.
  • Can adapt easily when every guest or group has different personalities and needs.
  • Welcomes feedback and coaching as opportunities to learn and grow.
  • Is reliable, punctual, and committed to showing up prepared for every shift.
  • Works well independently while also being a supportive member of a small team.

Schedule

  • Approximately 18–24 hours per week
  • Applicants must be available to work shifts between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
  • Weekend availability is required.
  • Most schedules include a combination of weekday and weekend shifts.
  • Additional evening hours may occasionally be available for private workshops or special events.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move throughout workshops and retail hours.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Comfortable cleaning workstations, organizing supplies, stocking merchandise, and preparing materials between experiences.

Preferred Experience

Experience in hospitality, tourism, education, museums, recreation, theater, retail, customer service, event hosting, or other guest-focused roles is preferred.

If you've taught, coached, led workshops, guided tours, facilitated group activities, or simply have a natural ability to make people feel welcome and engaged, we'd love to hear from you.

No candle-making experience is required—we'll teach you that. We're looking for someone who enjoys creating memorable experiences for others.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Friendly, supportive small-business environment
  • Employee discount
  • Regular opportunities for performance-based raises
  • Learn fragrance blending, candle making, and guest experience design
  • Help create meaningful memories for people celebrating life's special moments
  • Meet visitors from around the country while sharing one of Brown County's most unique experiences
  • Be part of building an exciting new destination experience from the ground up

Before You Apply

We believe the best experiences happen when guests feel genuinely welcomed, encouraged, and cared for.

Because we're a small team, every person makes a meaningful difference. We're looking for someone who enjoys serving others, takes initiative, embraces feedback, and wants to help create experiences people will remember long after they've returned home.

If this sounds like the kind of work that energizes you, we'd love to hear from you.
