This role blends veterinary care, client communication, and hospital leadership to create a seamless experience for our clients and a positive, collaborative environment for our team. You’ll be a key partner in helping our veterinary professionals focus on what they do best—delivering exceptional patient care. Ideally, our candidate would have 2 years of experience working in a veterinary clinic setting, with emergency medicine preferred but not required. All qualified candidates will be considered, and salary is based on experience.
Assistant hospital administrators play a key role in driving the performance of a veterinary hospital in partnership with the hospital administrator, medical director, and area manager. This position helps oversee the business and staff aspects of the practice and has responsibility for all support and operational functions, such as human resources, financial, operational, and business activities.

May require flexible work hours including evenings and weekends. This is not considered a remote position.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Assists in supervisory responsibility for all of the team members at the hospital other than doctors. Works with the Hospital Administrator and Medical Director to co-supervise Medical Support staff.

- Support the creation and maintenance of a collaborative, high-performing, positive, and engaged workplace culture
- Organize the health services of a hospital or healthcare. Serve as the assistant point person for all day-to-day functions of the practice
- Assist with all strategic business development and operational planning efforts
- Help oversee all departments that support the business side of the hospital with a focus on business financials, growth, and human resources
- Ensure company procedures are communicated, updated when needed, and adhered to
- Assist in coaching, managing, mentoring and training direct report staff. Contribute to performance management, recognition, and employee performance. May address performance and/or behavior issues, clarifying expectations, and providing feedback. Assist HA in providing overall guidance to and mentoring hospital team
- Participate in the recruitment and selection of hospital staff. Provide orientation to outline job requirements and expectations, policies and procedures, and proper use of tools and equipment
- Build relationships with local general practices and community leaders to market the practice
- Work with Hospital Administrator to create marketing programs to support the business model and strategic goals. Ensure marketing procedures are implemented, followed, and tracked accurately
- Assist in management of human resources related issues. Maintain current knowledge of state, federal, and local relevant employment law and ensure legal compliance
- Help manage facilities and equipment maintenance
- Maintain current knowledge and ensure compliance with OSHA, DEA, and other applicable regulatory agencies
- Maintain current knowledge of veterinary management best practices and make recommendations for improved efficiency and effectiveness
- Perform other duties and projects as requested
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (Essential Qualifications)
AA or Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
Experience
- 2 years of experience in overall operations, financial and facilities management, and/or Human Resources
- This includes one year of job-specific experience in a hospital management role within the veterinary or human health industry
- Knowledge of state, federal, and local employment and safety laws and regulations
- Proficient with ADP Workforce One, Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of veterinary hospital practices, procedures and PIMS
- Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills with a client-oriented approach
- Leverages interpersonal skills and technical knowledge to bring people and ideas together to perform effectively
- Strong time management skills including prioritizing work and meeting deadlines
- Strong critical thinking, judgement, and problem-solving skills
- Adapt and remain flexible in changing situations and work environments
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and maintain confidentiality
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage time well
