What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator, Health Professions Student Success position at Lake-Sumter State College?

The Coordinator of Health Professions Student Success is responsible for assessing students' progress in health professions programs and intervening when real or potential problems are identified. The coordinator, as a member of the Health Professions Operations team, provides support to health profession students on both the South Lake and Leesburg campuses. This position focuses on prioritizing and managing processes that affect students across all phases of enrollment or those associated with the programs. The coordinator maintains collaborative relationships with Program Directors, College Departments, including but not limited to Academic Advising, Student Wellness, Registrar, Enrollment Services, Recruitment, and Academic Affairs.Â

The Student Success Coordinator is responsible for demonstrating LSSC's core values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating, and Celebrating when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members.

  • Develop remediation plans based on student needs and learning styles.
  • Identify and interact with all students having current or potential problems.
  • Assess daily activities for student compliance and progression in Health Profession programs.
  • Identify student success strategies for students with readmission eligibility.
  • Communicate student status quo with Program Directors and Health Profession Operations staff.
  • Coordinate accurate handling of student and program information consistent with the program and outside entities.
  • Administrative support and cross-training with other Health Professions student staff roles.
  • Ability to travel amongst various campuses and attend College events, on or off campus, as requested.
  • Ability to work various hours, based on student need, including nights, early mornings, and weekends.
  • Compliance with FERPA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Clerical

  • Calendar management: Schedules appointments and maintains the calendar.
  • Preparation of correspondence.
  • Official document preparation and organization of files.
  • Organizes student files and data reports.
  • Schedules/coordinates meetings and room set up as necessary.
  • Assist in establishing work procedures and standards to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations while improving customer service.
  • Exemplify core values and provide excellent customer service to members of the general public and other LSSC employees.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and database development.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Advanced ability to communicate verbally and electronically.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Demonstrate respect for confidentiality.

  • Required:
  • Associate Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years working with students in higher education.
  • Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in education, business, or a related field.
