Account Specialist I Full-Time (Non-Exempt)
Rate: $19.6892 hr./$40,953 annual to $30.94 hr./$64,355 annual

Position Description: Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Account Specialist I performs basic operations of various accounting functions, including but not limited to posting of general revenues, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and Point of Sale systems.

Position Description: Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Account Specialist I performs basic operations of various accounting functions, including but not limited to posting of general revenues, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and Point of Sale systems.
Additional Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Verifies and processes vendor payments, accounts payables, prints checks, and makes ACH payments.
- Assists with monthly bank reconciliations.
- Performs duties as Park District records retention administrator.
- Performs year-end accruals and assists with the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
- Posts all revenue from facilities, processes receivables and refunds.
- Maintains various spreadsheets for tracking purposes.
- Provides administrative support to the Chief Financial Officer, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree in business, accounting, or related field preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in posting general revenues, accounts receivables, and payables in the public sector required.
- 2 years of experience in public sector financial software packages preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and insurability under the Agency’s policy.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficiency with computers, e-mail, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Completion and maintenance of all required mandatory training (e.g., emergency communication, hazardous materials, PPE, sexual harassment, workplace violence prevention, and fire safety).
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Basic knowledge of bookkeeping, customer service, and business best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and report preparation.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems, manage time effectively, and maintain professionalism and discretion.
- Mathematical ability to perform basic calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and working with fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Ability to interact with others tactfully and courteously, maintaining integrity in all interactions with the public, coworkers, and management.
