Position Overview
Lake Lure Classical Academy seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Middle and High School Math Teacher who is passionate about cultivating mathematical reasoning, critical thinking, and a love of learning within a classical education framework. Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in middle and high school mathematics (e.g., Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and/or Calculus).
- Integrate classical education principles, emphasizing logic, reasoning, and problem-solving.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and abilities.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, including direct instruction, guided practice, and collaborative learning.
Student Development
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes respect, discipline, and a love of learning.
- Encourage perseverance, intellectual curiosity, and academic integrity.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student growth.
- Maintain high expectations for both academic performance and character development.
Assessment & Data Use
- Develop and administer assessments to measure student progress.
- Analyze assessment data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.
- Prepare students for relevant standardized tests and college readiness benchmarks.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain clear expectations for behavior and academic engagement.
- Create a structured, orderly, and positive classroom environment.
- Implement consistent classroom management practices aligned with school policies.
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure vertical alignment of curriculum and instruction.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
Professional Responsibilities

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid North Carolina teaching license (or ability to obtain).
- Strong content knowledge in secondary mathematics.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn classical education pedagogy.
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
