Position Summary
Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and student-focused Elementary Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities in classroom and school settings. This position works under the direct supervision of a certifiedteacher and/or administrator to assist students academically, behaviorally, and socially, helping ensure access to instruction and a positive school experience.
This is a support role and is not a teaching position. The paraprofessional does not assume responsibility for planning instruction, delivering core instruction, assigning grades, or independently managing a classroom. The paraprofessional provides support and reinforcement of instruction and behavioral strategies under the direction of certified staff.
Key Responsibilities
● Provide instructional support to individual students and small groups as directed by a certified teacher
● Assist with the implementation of instructional activities, accommodations, and modifications designed by the teacher
● Support students’ social, emotional, behavioral, and self-regulation needs in alignment with teacher direction and student plans
● Implement components of behavior intervention plans and positive behavior supports under teacher or administrator guidance
● Assist students with classroom routines, transitions, and organization
● Support students with personal care needs, as applicable (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility), while maintaining student dignity
● Supervise students during non-instructional times (lunch, recess, transitions) as assigned
● Observe and document student progress or concerns and communicate observations to instructional staff
● Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and district policies
Required Qualifications
● Applicants must have:
○ 60 credit hours
○ An Associates degree
○ Master’s degree
○ Work Keys Assessment / ETS ParaPro Assessment (score of 460 or higher)
○ SAT English score 480 & SAT Math scores 530
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience working with children with disabilities
● Experience in an educational or childcare setting
● Familiarity with MTSS, positive behavior supports, or trauma-informed practices
Physical & Work Requirements
● Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the school day
● Ability to lift and assist students as needed (training provided)
● Ability to manage student behavior safely and calmly
Compensation & Benefits
● Hourly rate: $16.00
● Part-time position (up to 30 hours/week; for the 2026-2027 school year)
