Job Summary
Reports to Boat Sales Lead. The Delivery Sales Captain is responsible for providing customers with the highest quality experience. Learning all Lake Hopatcong Marine departments and the services each department provides. During the delivery process LHM strives to exceed the customers expectations. Responsibilities include prepping and cleaning boats, on water demonstration, being responsive to customers, building relationships, upsellingservices from other departments, answering their ongoing boat ownership questions and following up with customers that previously bought boats from us.
Additional Responsibilities Be able to greet customers in the show room, boat shows, events, and demo days, fill in as a possible salesperson when needed during busy times
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule boat deliveries
- Work extended hours in Spring/Fall/Boatshows/Events
- Detail the boats exterior and interior
- Deliver boats to specific locations
- Provide customers with the highest quality details that will leave them with the desire to return to LHM
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- Be comfortable using a wide range of shop tools and equipment
- Be comfortable using a wide range of cleaning/waxing supplies
- Move boats up to 28’ in length
- Communicate with customers in a friendly, outgoing fashion, providing them with clear and honest information
- Ability to cross train into some sales responsibilities
- Assist in the shop’s organization and cleanliness
- Maintain a positive attitude and be a productive member of the team
- Promote Lake Hopatcong Marine
- Showroom management, how boats are displayed in showroom, boat cleanliness, batteries properly installed
- Lot management, how boats are displayed in front of building, next to road, in pre-owned boat area, cleanliness of entire lot keeping boats cleaned, ensuring covers are on correctly, and in best showable condition.
- Assist during demo days when needed; travel to different lakes, pick up customers, and teach them to surf.
- Ensure all contact information is gathered and actively try to turn each surf experience into a sale
- Any other requests from supervisor
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Boating/Watersport Experience: boating experience with watersports preferred and ability to learn how to use the products we sell and promote surfing, wakeboarding, skiing, etc. Valid NJ Boater’s License
- Organization: Ability to keep documents, tasks organized and prioritized, ability to multitask
- Flexibility: Ability to work outside of normal operating hours as needed
- Customer Service: Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all customers and possible new customers
- Trailering experience required: ability to trailer boats safely and efficiently. Must be able to back a trailer down a boat ramp
- Ability to operate a variety of boats, wake surf, pontoon, bow riders, etc.
- Detailing: Ability to recognize any uncleanliness/imperfections that can be fixed Communication Skills: be able to interact professionally with LHM and customers.
- Communicate information clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- Humility: Honestly and openly communicate any mistakes or mishaps made and learn from them

- Work Environment The shop can be dirty, and the weather is variable Winters are colder and in the summer it can be hot. Outdoor work is expected. Work performed on water is also expected.
- Physical Demands While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, or crouch for extended periods of time and regularly required to walk. Employees regularly use hands and fingers to touch, feel, and handle. Employee regularly stoops, kneels, bends at the waist, and reaches. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds on occasion.
Pay: $18.00 - $32.00 per hour
