WE ARE LOOKING FOR RECREATION STAFF TO FILL OUR SUMMER PROGRAMS

Job Description

Performs a wide variety of tasks that directly relates to recreation programs, camps, and events. Work is performed under general supervision of assigned supervisor.

The ideal candidate will be interested in working with children in recreation programs.

Special Note

Requires non-standard or rotating shift work. The primary schedule for the Summer Programs will be Monday - Friday, between the hours of 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM, not to exceed 29 hours per week. Mandatory training for the Summer Program will be Tuesday, May 26-May 29.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years of age and moderate experience in youth or adult recreation or educational programs.

Special Qualifications

CPR/First Aid Certification issued by a nationally recognized certifying agency at hire. (The Parks and Recreation Dept. will train if the candidate does not possess at hire)

Must meet and maintain all training and education requirements for the position.

Valid Driver License of appropriate class based on assignment.

Essential Functions

Assists with recreation programs, camps, and events.

Assists in training staff at assigned youth program or camp.

Assists with set-up and break down of program sites and events.

Provides weekly program schedules

Administers basic First Aid, when needed.

Makes certain facility/program rules and regulations are followed.

Cautions guests about unsafe practices and provides education.

Conducts daily facility/program safety checks.

Assists in cleaning and maintenance of the facility.

Provides customer service.

Accountable for program equipment.

Attends trainings and staff meetings.

Assists with the completion of reports as needed.

Maintains regular attendance.

Maintain professionalism and constant communication with Lead and Supervisor.

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, community groups, other departments, other government agencies, program participants, supervisors, and the general public.

All positions within the City are required to submit to a pre-employment drug test. A positive result for drugs tested under the policy, including recreational marijuana, may be grounds for withdrawal of an offer of employment.

The City reserves the right to consider only the most highly qualified applicants. The succeeding examination processes may be required: training and experience, testing, panel interview, employment eligibility verification (EEV) requirements, personnel evaluation profile (PEP), polygraph test, background investigation, and alcohol/drug screening test. Lake Havasu City complies with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 and the Department of Transportation Drug Testing Program. Drug and alcohol testing is conducted under the authority of City policy and the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991. Appointment is subject to a successful background investigation and City paid post-employment medical examination after an offer of employment has been made.
