Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years of age and have at least one (1) year of experience as a fitness instructor, or two (2) years of participation in a fitness class; and be able to perform Water Exercise Instructor duties.
Special Qualifications
Valid Driver's License of the appropriate class.
First Aid Certification issued by a nationally recognized certifying agency.
CPR Certification issued by a nationally recognized certifying agency.
Automated External Defibrillator Certification issued by a nationally recognized certifying agency.
Possession of at least one (1) of the following is preferred:
Aquatic Fitness Professional Certification (AFPC) issued by the Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA).
Aquatic Arthritis Instructor issued by a nationally recognized certifying agency.
Certified Group Exercise Instructor issued by the American College of Sports Medicine
(ACSM).
Water Safety Instructor Certification (WSI) issued by a nationally recognized certifying agency based on assignment.
What You’ll Do
- Lead high-energy water fitness classes (Aqua Zumba, HIIT, water aerobics, resistance training)
- Design innovative aquatic routines that challenge, engage, and entertain
- Motivate participants of all ages and fitness levels with a positive, playful attitude
- Organize themed aquatic events, water challenges, and community fun days
- Keep safety at the forefront while making every class feel like a party
- Certified in Aqua Fitness, Lifeguard/CPR, or equivalent
- Passion for fitness and love for the water

The City reserves the right to consider only the most highly qualified applicants. The succeeding examination processes may be required: training and experience, testing, panel interview, employment eligibility verification (EEV) requirements, personnel evaluation profile (PEP), polygraph test, background investigation, and alcohol/drug screening test. Lake Havasu City complies with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 and the Department of Transportation Drug Testing Program. Drug and alcohol testing is conducted under the authority of City policy and the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991. Appointment is subject to a successful background investigation and City paid post-employment medical examination after an offer of employment has been made.
