Seasonal Parking Compliance Officers are uniformed, unarmed civilian personnel assigned to the Police Department and responsible for enforcing City parking ordinances. Working under the direction of the Patrol Supervisor, this position uses technology and independent judgment to support orderly parking operations within the Central Business District, City parking lots, and permitted beach areas during the peak summer season.
This role is well suited for individuals with strong technical aptitude and public service skills who enjoy working outdoors and interacting with the public, particularly those interested in public service, criminal justice, or municipal operations.

Position Details:
Duration: April 13 – August 31
Compensation: $21.00 per hour
Schedule: Up to 32 hours per week
The principal duties and responsibilities of the Seasonal Parking Compliance Officer include but are not limited to:
Parking Enforcement and Compliance
- Patrol assigned areas of the City by vehicle or on foot to monitor compliance with parking ordinances.
- Identify violations related to time limits, permits, and restricted parking zones.
- Assist with the of vehicle immobilization devices (on vehicles with excessive outstanding violations in accordance with City code and Department policy.
- Provide factual and professional testimony at administrative hearings regarding issued citations and enforcement actions.
Technology and Administration
- Operate vehicle-mounted Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) systems and electronic citation (E-Citation) software to identify and document parking violations.
- Utilize City databases and Microsoft Office applications to maintain accurate citation records and daily activity logs.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation as required by the Patrol Supervisor.
Public Service and Conflict Resolution
- Respond to public inquiries regarding parking regulations and assist visitors with parking-related issues in beach and business districts.
- Employ de-escalation and conflict-resolution techniques when interacting with individuals disputing violations or immobilizationactions.
- Interpret and applyappropriate lawsand Department policies to provide clear information to themembers of thepublic.
Education/Age: Highschool diplomaor GED equivalent
Experience: Prior experience in compliance, security, or customer servicestronglypreferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn specialized enforcement software and cloud-based systems quickly.
Communication: Exceptional skills in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse public. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with members of the public.
Judgment: Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional under pressure or in confrontational situations.
License: Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
