Job Title: Starter / Ranger
Location: Lake Forest Golf Club – Ann Arbor, MI
Position Type: Part-Time (Minimum 20 hours per week)
Position Overview
Lake Forest Golf Club is seeking a friendly, energetic, and customer-focused Starter/Ranger to join our team. This role is essential in creating a welcoming, organized, and enjoyable experience for all golfers. The ideal candidate loves the game of golf, enjoys engaging with people, and thrives in an outdoor, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the first tee and ensure groups start on time and in proper order
- Maintain pace of play throughout the golf course in a professional and positive manner
- Communicate clearly with golfers regarding course policies, expectations, and daily conditions
- Provide exceptional customer service and create a welcoming atmosphere for all guests
- Assist with coordinating tee times and managing daily play flow
- Address and resolve on-course issues with professionalism and good judgment
- Assist outdoor service staff as needed, including moving carts, fueling, picking the range, and general support of other LFGC team members as needed.
- Act as an ambassador of Lake Forest Golf Club’s culture: “Where friends gather,” delivering an unforgettable customer experience
Qualifications
- Strong golf background required (multiple years of playing experience preferred)
- Previous experience in sales, hospitality, or customer service is highly desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic environment
- Comfortable making decisions and interacting with a wide variety of personalities
- Must enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds
- Positive, outgoing, and team-oriented attitude
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Ability to navigate the golf course efficiently throughout a shift
Schedule
- Minimum 20 hours per week
