The Community Support Associate (CSA) provides direct, day-to-day support to residents in a treatment setting. This role focuses on helping clients develop life skills, maintain safety and structure, and engage positively in treatment, community activities, and daily routines. The CSA works collaboratively with clinical staff to promote recovery, stability, and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Support & Engagement
Provide consistent supervision, guidance, and emotional support to clients
Build positive, professional relationships that promote trust and accountability
Assist clients with daily living activities, routines, and personal goals
Encourage participation in treatment groups, educational sessions, and recreational activities
Program & Community Support
Support the implementation of treatment plans as directed by clinical staff
Facilitate or assist with structured activities, groups, and community outings
Model appropriate behavior, communication, and coping skills
Help maintain a structured, therapeutic, and respectful environment
Safety & Crisis Management
Monitor client behavior to ensure safety and compliance with program rules
Respond appropriately to crises, conflicts, or behavioral concerns using de-escalation techniques
Follow all safety protocols, emergency procedures, and reporting requirements
Documentation & Communication
Accurately document observations, incidents, and resident progress
Communicate effectively with supervisors, clinicians, and team members
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and shift handoffs
Administrative & Facility Duties
Assist with medication supervision as permitted by policy and training
Maintain cleanliness and organization of shared living spaces
Transport clients to appointments or activities when required (if applicable)
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or GED
Ability to work with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, or behavioral concerns
Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm, professional, and supportive in high-stress situations
Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as needed
Preferred
Previous experience in residential treatment, behavioral health, or social services
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods
Ability to lift or assist up to 50 as needed
Comfortable working in a 24/7 residential care environment
