Member Service Representative

DO YOU ENJOY HELPING OTHER? The Central Y in Painesville a part-time Member Service Representative to create a welcoming experience for our members.

• Shifts: Evenings, 4:00pm - 8:00pm (approximately 8-10 hours per week)
• Starting Pay Rate: $12.50 per hour and a FREE YMCA Family membership

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform and provide excellent customer service skills by exceeding the expectations of members. Consistently greet every person who enters the YMCA (by name, if known) and recognize all members and guests when they leave.
• Engage in active listening with members and program participants in order to build relationships, understand individual’s goals and interests, and take the initiative to ensure the member has a positive experience.
• Answer phones, direct calls, and provide accurate information about membership and programs.
• Conduct interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sell memberships and process program registration.
• Promote program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members.
• Build relationships with members; help members connect with one another and the YMCA.
• Monitor and utilize software to verify membership and enroll participants in programs.
• Resolve membership concerns and inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
• Adhere to all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
• Maintain an accurate inventory and record of daily transactions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 18 years of age.
• Ability to complete Y provided certifications within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Previous customer service, sales, or related experience.
• Basic knowledge of computers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Light work. Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise, move objects.
• The worker may be subject to noise. Occasionally subject to environmental conditions and unstable surfaces. Activities occur mostly inside.
• Ability to: stand, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching occasionally during the work shift; use hands and fingers for fine motor skills occasionally; walking on a variety of uneven surfaces and climbing stairs occasionally; receive detailed information through sound as well as express through the spoken word; read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
