What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nature Camp Counselor position at Lake County Forest Preserve District?
SUMMARY
The Nature Camp Counselor positions provide Lake County High School Youth with an opportunity to explore the field of Environmental Education. These positions offer the opportunity for youth to assist District Educators with summer camp programming, along with public programs and special events. The positions offer leadership experience and enhance knowledge of the natural and human history of Lake County. Nature Camp Counselors assist Environmental Educators with presenting programs on topics such as plants, ecology, and interconnectedness. Assists educators with Summer Adventure programs for ages 3-14. Assists in preparing program materials for classroom, laboratory, and field trips. Perform tasks that require walking, bending, stooping, standing, kneeling, climbing, reaching and sitting. Perform lifting tasks up to 50 pounds.
EXPERIENCE
Lake County High School students between the ages of 16 and 19. Desire to learn more about the field of education. Must have the ability to work around general population in public areas and deal with people under stressful situations. Upon employment, must successfully complete and obtain certification in American Red Cross CPR and First Aid.
