What are the responsibilities and job description for the YCC Crew Leader position at Lake County Forest Preserve District?
SUMMARY
The Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Crew Leader implements conservation/development projects for purposes of conserving and improving the county's natural resources, while teaching YCC members the principles of employment, conservation, environmental awareness, and construction. These projects may include trail clearing, wildlife habitat restoration, prairie management, river clean up, and construction of elementary structures such as board walks, retaining walls, and steps. Drives a motorized vehicle to travel to different locations. Performs tasks that will require walking, bending, stooping, standing, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and sitting. Performs heavy lifting tasks up to 50 pounds.
EXPERIENCE
Pursuing an environmental-related education or career preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age. Experience working with high school students in a supervisory capacity. Experience in conservation and/or construction projects, which includes the ability to use power and hand tools. Ability to interpret construction plans. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess a valid motor vehicle driver's license.
Salary : $17 - $19
