    Intervention Specialist-Summer

    Summary:
    Teaches subjects in schools, institutions, or other specialized facilities by performing the following duties:

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    Other duties may be assigned by the Administration.
    • Keep informed of trends, methods, and issues as well as local, state, and federal mandates/policies relating to teaching in the area of certification/licensure.
    • Plan curriculum and prepares lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual need of students, considering state and school requirements, physical, emotional, and educational levels of development.
    • Properly supervise student behavior.
    • Confer with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social worker, and others to develop individual educational program for student.
    • Instruct students in all academic subjects.
    • Create learning materials and use all available resources to present instruction geared to each student's ability and interest.
    • Work with students to increase motivation, provide consistent reinforcement to learning, continuous assessment of level of functioning, and continuous feedback to student for all learning activities.
    • Work with parents to accept and develop skills in dealing with student's learning impairment.
    • Develop frequent communications either written or oral with the following: parents of children; teachers and administrators of the building/district; related agencies and community members who provide services to children; and, teachers from other districts.
    • Perform necessary record keeping procedures to include: attendance; assessment results; and, behavioral incidences.
    • Attend meetings and complete forms necessary for the quality operation of education relating to your area of responsibility.
    • Strive to maintain a positive relationship between the ESC and those districts served by the ESC.
    • Attend training and pass any test or assessment related to such training within the timeframe established by the supervisor.

    Education/Experience & Certification:
    Minimum of a Bachelor's degree; Must obtain and maintain a valid Intervention Specialist License with the State of Ohio Department of Education.
    Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
    Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
    Computer Skills: Ability to operate a copier and personal computer, and input grades into a database. To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of internet browser use for research, and ability to use virtual meeting tools.

    Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    Physical Demands: The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently able to perform holds up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Peripheral vision. While performing the duties of their job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit; bend; twist; and squat. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

    After proper training, assist students with personal health needs and non-medical procedures; position and/or perform on-person or two-person lift of a child; and perform restraints on students when needed.

    Criminal Records Check:
    Must comply with Ohio Revised Code 3319.39 – Criminal Records Check.
    Drug Testing: Must pass a 10 panel drug screen at time of hire and comply with the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988.
