We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecommunicator to join our team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for emergency and non-emergency calls, providing critical support to law enforcement and emergency services. Your ability to communicate effectively, analyze situations, and dispatch appropriate resources will be essential in ensuring public safety and efficient response operations.
Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally, utilizing excellent phone etiquette.
- Conduct phone triage to assess the urgency of situations and determine appropriate responses.
- Transcribe information accurately for record-keeping and further action.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to assist in locating incidents and dispatching resources effectively.
- Analyze incoming information to provide clear and concise communication to law enforcement and emergency responders.
- Dispatch units as necessary, ensuring timely response to incidents.
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and actions taken during shifts.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other emergency services to ensure coordinated responses.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in telecommunications or related fields is a plus.
- Strong typing skills with the ability to transcribe information quickly and accurately.
- Proficiency in phone etiquette and effective communication techniques.
- Experience in dispatching is highly desirable.
- Ability to analyze situations quickly and make informed decisions under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
