What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic III (Full Time) position at Lake Charles Memorial Health System?
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
- The Mechanic III shall function as lead or senior mechanic, capable of independent operation in-service training and supervision of other employees.
SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Facilities Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Successfully completes all assignments.
- Documents deficiencies and repairs when found or identified.
- Responds to corrective requests in a timely manner.
- Coordinates corrective maintenance and repairs with supervisors and department management with users.
- Identifies repair parts and service as needed and notifies supervisor for approval.
- Is knowledgeable of the capabilities of those who serve under them.
- Assures proper use and care of tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and understand sketches, blue prints, weights measures, equipment operational and service manuals.
- Have knowledge of rolls that Renovations personnel are involved with during all codes used at hospital.
- Understand and apply guidelines and department procedures for ILSM's and ICRA's.
- Ability to give direction to Renovations I's and II's on any new or difficult procedure.
- Assess all jobs assigned to for safety and notifies supervisor of any violations.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of five years experience.
- Must maintain a basic compliment of tools as prescribed by department policy.
- Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English; Ability to communicate with patient, family, peers and medical personnel; Be willing to train for more advanced duties or skills.
- Must be able to read and communicate effectively and interpret blue prints, diagrams and statistical data; Requires emotional stability and resilience.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Must have good hand/eye coordination and have no color loss in eyes.
- Must be able to utilize intricate hand tools and testing devices and work with system components.
- May be required to lift heavy objects, climb ladders and stairs, push or pull varying weights.
- Must have good manual dexterity and have full range of motion in all extremities, good perception and field of vision.
- May occasionally work in semi-clean environments.
- Ability to do shift work as required.
