Description:
The music teacher fosters an appreciation of the arts and provides a joyful and supportive learning environment for music development. The music teacher works to improve students\' speaking and listening skills. He/she has a passion for teaching middle school students and encourages students to take risks, grow, and excel. The music teacher is highly collaborative and positive with students, colleagues, and parents.  

Job Summary:

• meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• attends meetings as required under the current contract.
• is available to students, parents, staff and administrators for education-related purposes during the school workday.
• supports the district\'s philosophy of education.
• recognizes student needs and seeks the assistance of other professional staff in helping students.
• solves social, emotional, physical, and academic problems.
• plans and implements a program of study within the established curriculum that meets the individual needs and abilities of the students.
• prepares for classes assigned and shares preparation activities with the building principal, upon request.
• fosters a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
• establishes clear objectives and communicates these to students.
• guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
• employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs, capabilities, and interests of the students involved.
• assesses and reports student performance on a regular basis.
• maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative procedures.
• takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• actively maintains professional competencies through continuous learning and professional development opportunities.
• supports the administration and staff in implementing current district practices and programs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor\'s Degree
• A current Professional Educator License (PEL)
• Valid Illinois Teaching Certificate with subject area endorsements as needed - Registered in Lake County
• Successful student teaching or past teaching experience
• Valid First Aid/CPR Cards preferred.

Terms of Employment:

• Salary/Benefits: Placed on the District 65 Salary Schedule based on education and experience; full benefits package included. See Collective Bargaining Agreement for details.
