JOB TITLE Long Term Leave Elementary Enrichment Specialist 8/24/26-10/2/26
LOCATION: Elementary and/or Middle School
REPORTS TO: Principal
EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by Building Principal, Assistant Principal, Superintendent, Director of Student Services or Curriculum Coordinator as assigned and in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education Policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
To provide excellence in education by establishing an environment that facilitates student learning, encourages the realization of personal potential, and contributes to students\' development as mature, able, and responsible adults.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Possesses knowledge of District policies and regulations relating to areas of responsibilities.
- Provides leadership within the district as a teacher, instructional coach and specialist in the following areas: compacting curriculum, developing tiered assignments, and facilitating the design of differentiated curriculum and instruction for gifted and high achieving students.
- Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to offer a continuum of services that supports them in maximizing each child\'s opportunities for challenge and growth as well as provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 MTSS enrichment.
- Collaborates with other members of the enrichment team to design schoolwide science and social studies curriculum that aligns to standards and delivers this instruction to students.
- Works with school psychologists, teachers and the administration on assessment, data analysis and identification procedures.
- Co-teaches lessons rooted in principles of differentiation.
- Promotes the School-wide Enrichment Model by maintaining a positive relationship with students, staff, and the community.
- Maintains and enhances professional knowledge in trends and technology in gifted education by participating in various professional organizations and activities.
- Works collaboratively with team to provide professional development for staff.
- Uses data and research on best practices in education to guide curricular and instructional decisions.
- Coordinates staff and parent volunteers to provide extracurricular enrichment opportunities for students.
- Promotes partnerships with parents and the community and coordinates parent education activities.
- Organizes calendar of activities with staff, meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Demonstrates adherence of all curriculums to State Standards and School Board policy when providing services.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as requested or needed.
- Supervises students both in and out of the classroom.
- Maintains professional competence through participation in District in-service activities and/or self-selected professional growth activities related to job responsibilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned within contractual agreements.
- Adheres to all provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
REQUIREMENTS
- Appropriate Bachelor\'s Degree required; Master\'s Degree preferred.
- Valid Illinois Teaching Certificate.
- Successful teaching experience with emphasis in enrichment/gifted education.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences.
SALARY
Long term substitute pay is $284/day.
