Laitram Machinery, Inc. has a position available for a Fabrication Shop Helper. This individual will be a key player in fabrication operations at our Harahan, LA location. Applicants should be self-starters, able to complete tasks with little direct supervision.

Responsibilities
- Perform general housekeeping/clean up in assigned area
- Operate shop equipment as necessary
- Assist fabricators in performance of their duties
- Gather materials.
- Move material to next station
- Assist as need with cleaning and appling chemical treatments to welds
- Assist other departments as needed through cross‑training and providing coverage during busy times
- It is essential that this position is performed at the facility.
- High School diploma, GED Equivalent, or Vocational School diploma.
- Ability to work in and maintain a safe work environment
- Entry level knowledge of all equipment and tools necessary to perform the duties required
- Ability to learn how to operate material handling equipment to move and align materials
- Must be able to learn Laitram Machinery Quality Standards
- Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift and move 50 lbs
- Previous fabrication experience and/or vocational training.
- Previous overhead crane experience
- Previous forklift experience
