Laitram Machinery, Inc. has an opening for an Electrical Drafter/Designer to assist engineers with the design and development of seafood processing equipment for our customers. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: creating schematics, drawings and solid models for new product design and development, incorporating engineering changes for product improvement, maintaining BOM’s for new designs and design changes, plant layout drawings, report generation, etc. This position will also assist design engineers and technicians as larger projects and deadlines require.

Responsibilities
- Drafting and design (in SolidWorks and SolidWorks Electrical) of 24/480 volt industrial I/O schematics wiring diagrams, layouts and other diagrams to support the electrical engineering of projects.
- Assist engineers with 2D drawings and 3D solid modeling for new equipment and product line improvements
- Test/assembly of prototype equipment and modifications to existing equipment
- Create/maintain bills of materials for the manufacturing of equipment
- Maintain engineering documents using Product Data Management systems
- Assist Engineering department with large and/or emergency projects as needed
- Electrical component research (motor starters, prox switches, sensors, VFDs, PLCs, etc.)
- Assist with product prototype fabrication/assembly and testing
- Perform field work as required (e.g. research problems, monitor tests, installations and startups)
- 1 year work or educational experience designing in CAD software
- Strong Electrical/Mechanical Aptitude
- Motor Control experience
- Experience generating electrical schematics based on electrical/mechanical requirements
- Self-managed, detail oriented, team-player with good written and oral communication skills
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Proficiency in NFPA, NEC, CE & UL
- Bachelor of Science of Engineering or Technology (e.g. Industrial, Applied, Mechanical, Engineering, etc.)
- SolidWorks or ProEngineer (or equivalent) 3D software experience
- Ability to travel
- Experience with operating within a PDM system
- Experience generating electrical schematics based on electrical/mechanical requirements of a system consisting of processing equipment
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
