Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and facilitate efficient check-in and check-out processes using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and confirm upcoming visits to optimize clinic efficiency.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures by preparing exam rooms, sterilizing equipment, and handing over necessary supplies.
- Collect vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and oxygen saturation; document accurately in the EHR system.
- Perform clinical tasks including phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration under supervision, and basic wound care when appropriate.
- Support medical documentation by coding diagnoses with ICD codes, updating patient records with detailed notes on physiology and anatomy observations.
- Handle patient inquiries professionally, provide education on treatments or medications, and ensure a positive patient service experience at all times.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of dermatology, urgent care procedures, hospital medicine practices, and outpatient clinical workflows.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems for accurate documentation and management of patient data.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, ICD coding, and medication administration protocols.
- Experience with phlebotomy techniques, vital signs collection, X-ray procedures, and basic emergency medicine practices including Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Ability to navigate hospital environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers; inpatient experience highly valued.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on intake processes and providing compassionate care across diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatric ICU (PICU).
- Demonstrated competence in medical office management tasks such as appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
