The Lafayette House is a fine dining restaurant, tavern and banquet facility located in Lafayette, NJ. We are proud to be family owned and operated for over 35 years! We are currently seeking a line cook with sauté station experience to join our hardworking team. Friday, Saturday and Sunday availability is required. Some Wednesday and/or Thursday hours also possible. Will consider both full and part-time candidates

Responsibilities include:

• Wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking.
• Prepare cold and hot foods including salads, sandwiches, hors d'oeuvres.
• Operate cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, or griddles.
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes by sautéing meats, seafood, vegetables, and other ingredients.
• Follow in-house recipes and cooking techniques to ensure consistent quality, quantity and flavor.
• Read food order slips as to special requests by patron, and prepare and cook food according to those requests, taking extreme caution when dealing with food allergies/dietary restrictions.
• Cook items ordered by each customer, working on several different orders simultaneously.
• Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils.
• Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
• Clean, stock, and restock workstations and display cases.

Required Skills/Capabilities

• Must be a hardworking and team oriented individual who takes pride in their work with exceptional attention to detail.
• Experience working in a fast paced restaurant environment required.
• Occasionally will need to lift items more than 30 pounds.
• Needs to be able to stand for extended periods of time.
