ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:  

The Assistant Coach Men’s Soccer assists the Head Coach Men’s Soccer in the planning, development, administration, and oversight of a competitive intercollegiate men’s soccer program. The position emphasizes instruction, player development, recruiting, and student-athlete support, while operating within the educational mission of the College. The Assistant Coach must comply with all NCAA Division II, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), and Lackawanna College rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist the Head Coach in organizing, planning, and conducting team practices, training sessions, and skill-development activities in accordance with NCAA and PSAC regulations.
  2. Teach, instruct, and mentor student-athletes in the rules, fundamentals, strategies, and techniques of men’s soccer.
  3. Assist in the supervision and coaching of the team during all home and away contests, practices, travel, and team-related activities.
  4. Support recruiting efforts consistent with NCAA Division II and PSAC rules, including identifying prospective student-athletes, communicating with recruits, and assisting with official and unofficial visits.
  5. Promote the academic success, personal development, and overall well-being of student-athletes in coordination with academic support and compliance staff.
  6. Assist with game preparation, scouting, film review, and performance analysis.
  7. Ensure compliance with all NCAA Division II, PSAC, and institutional policies, including eligibility, recruiting, playing and practice seasons, and student-athlete conduct.
  8. Assist with fundraising, alumni engagement, community outreach, and program promotion as directed by the Head Coach and the Department of Athletics.
  9. Supervise student-athletes during all team activities and enforce team, departmental, and institutional standards.
  10. Represent the men’s soccer program and the Department of Athletics in a professional manner at all times.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach Men’s Soccer or Director of Athletics.

  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
  • Physical ability to perform job-related duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds.


REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
  • Current American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Certification in the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), or willingness to obtain.


EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior collegiate or high-level coaching experience required.
  • Experience recruiting student-athletes at the collegiate level preferred.
  • Familiarity with NCAA rules compliance and fundraising efforts preferred.
