ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:
The Academic Advisor serves as an academic liaison between Main Campus and the Hazleton Center, particularly related to bachelor’s degree courses, student learning outcome assessment, scheduling, and academic requirements, including but not limited to internships and course-related service learning. The Advisor provides expertise to new and continuing students in such functions as defining and clarifying educational goals; recommending courses and programs of study; assisting students in the registration process, and reviewing graduation status. With the goal of increasing student retention, particularly of high-risk students, the Advisor provides assistance in the development of educational plan options and resources available, making appropriate referrals to assist students in the evaluation of their educational progress.

EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s degree in human relations or a related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one year working experience in a student services setting.
- Evidence of experience working with diverse populations.
- Prior experience in higher education, preferred.
- Documented experience with database programs, and ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal.
