Hotel Maintenance Technician

Position Summary
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Abilene is seeking an experienced, dependable, and highly skilled Hotel Maintenance Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining all guest rooms, public areas, building systems, hotel equipment, laundry facilities, and mechanical systems to ensure a safe, clean, and fully operational property while meeting IHG Brand Standards. This position requires hands-on experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, pool maintenance, boilers, commercial laundry equipment, and general hotel repairs.

Required Skills & Experience
Applicants must have practical experience in the following areas:
HVAC
- Diagnose and repair PTAC units and HVAC systems.
- Replace and install HVAC filters.
- Clean evaporator and condenser coils.
- Troubleshoot heating and air conditioning issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment.
- Understand refrigeration principles and thermostat controls.
Plumbing
- Repair and replace faucets, sinks, toilets, flush valves, shower valves, drains, and water lines.
- Unclog drains and sewer lines.
- Repair water leaks and replace plumbing fixtures.
- Diagnose plumbing problems quickly and efficiently.
- Repair and maintain water heaters and circulation pumps.
Electrical
- Replace electrical outlets, switches, GFCIs, breakers, and light fixtures.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems safely.
- Install LED lighting and emergency lighting.
- Repair exit signs and electrical controls.
- Read basic electrical diagrams and safely use electrical testing equipment.
Pool Maintenance
- Clean and vacuum the swimming pool.
- Test and balance pool chemicals daily.
- Maintain proper chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and stabilizer levels.
- Backwash and clean pool filters.
- Maintain pool pumps, timers, lights, and equipment.
- Inspect and maintain the ADA pool lift and safety equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all local health and safety regulations.
Carpentry
- Repair doors, locks, hinges, cabinets, furniture, trim, and shelving.
- Replace damaged bed frames, headboards, and furniture.
- Perform minor framing and wood repairs.
Drywall & Painting
- Repair drywall damage, cracks, holes, and water damage.
- Tape, float, texture, sand, and finish drywall repairs.
- Match paint colors and perform touch-up painting.
- Paint guest rooms, hallways, ceilings, doors, and public areas.
- Repair wallpaper and wall coverings.
Flooring
- Repair and replace vinyl plank flooring, ceramic tile, carpet, baseboards, grout, caulking, and floor transitions.
Hotel Equipment
Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair:
- Guest room refrigerators
- Microwaves
- Coffee makers
- Ice machines
- Guest room televisions
- Electronic door lock systems
- Fitness room equipment
- Vending equipment
- Elevators (coordinate with contracted service provider)
- Automatic doors
- Exterior lighting and signage
Commercial Laundry & Boiler Systems
Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair:
- Commercial housekeeping washers and dryers
- Guest laundry washers and dryers
- Laundry detergent dispensing systems
- Dryer heating systems, belts, rollers, motors, and exhaust vents
- Washer pumps, valves, hoses, and drain systems
- Lint collection systems and dryer vent cleaning
- Steam and hot water boilers
- Domestic hot water systems
- Water heaters and circulation pumps
- Expansion tanks, pressure relief valves, and boiler controls
- Water softeners and filtration systems
- Monitor boiler temperatures, pressures, and daily operation
- Coordinate major boiler or mechanical repairs with licensed contractors when necessary
Preventive Maintenance
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance in all guest rooms.
- Defrost and clean guest room refrigerators.
- Inspect HVAC units, plumbing fixtures, lighting, appliances, furniture, mattresses, bed frames, windows, doors, and locks.
- Replace HVAC filters according to schedule.
- Complete preventive maintenance reports accurately and on time.
Exterior Maintenance
- Maintain parking lot lighting.
- Repair sidewalks and curbs.
- Maintain landscaping and irrigation systems.
- Pressure wash sidewalks, pool deck, and building exterior as needed.
- Remove trash and debris to maintain excellent curb appeal.
- Perform seasonal exterior maintenance as required.
Tool Proficiency
Candidates must be experienced using:
- Digital multimeter
- HVAC gauges
- Vacuum pump
- Pipe wrenches
- Drain augers (snakes)
- Copper tubing tools
- PVC pipe tools
- Drywall tools
- Paint sprayers, brushes, and rollers
- Power drills and impact drivers

Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years of hotel maintenance experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, boilers, commercial laundry equipment, and pool maintenance.
- EPA Certification preferred.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, equipment manuals, and maintenance schedules.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Stand, walk, climb ladders, crawl, bend, kneel, and work overhead for extended periods.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Performance Expectations
- Maintain all guest rooms, public areas, and mechanical systems in excellent condition.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
- Complete preventive maintenance on schedule.
- Maintain pool water quality and safety standards.
- Ensure boilers, hot water systems, and laundry equipment operate efficiently.
- Minimize out-of-order rooms through timely repairs.
- Maintain compliance with IHG Brand Standards, OSHA regulations, and local safety codes.
- Keep the maintenance shop clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Deliver professional, courteous, and timely service to guests and fellow team members.
Schedule
- Full-Time
