What are the responsibilities and job description for the Master Drywall Skimmer & Mudding Technician position at La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Amarillo West Medical Center?
We are looking for a true Commercial Drywall Mud & Texture Expert who specializes strictly in high-end mudding, taping, and custom wall texturing for an active hotel room renovation project.
This is not a general labor, entry-level, or basic painting position. We need a specialized craftsman who is a master of the hawk, pan, and knife—someone who can walk into a room, float out imperfections, tape seams flawlessly, and expertly match or apply wall and ceiling textures.
Core Responsibilities
- Expert Mudding & Taping: Applying tape, bedding coats, and multiple finish coats of joint compound to achieve perfectly smooth, seamless walls and crisp 90-degree corners.
- Custom Texturing: Skillfully applying or matching existing wall and ceiling textures (such as knockdown, orange peel, or specialty finishes) with a professional, uniform look.
- Sanding & Preparation: Working efficiently with hand and pole sanding methods to ensure a flawless, ready-to-paint surface while keeping the workspace clean.
Strict Requirements & Qualifications
- Mud & Texture Mastery: Proven, extensive experience specifically as a drywall mudder and texture specialist. You must know your compounds, drying times, and finishing techniques inside and out.
- Do Not Apply If: You are a general handyman or do not have deep, specialized experience specifically in mudding and texturing walls.
- Tools & Reliability: Must bring your own professional-grade mudding knives, pans, mixing tools, texturing equipment, and sanding gear.
How to Apply
If you are a true mud and texture expert who can deliver top-tier walls, reach out directly to Ajay at 806-305-9685 for an immediate interview.
