Position Summary
La Puente is seeking a passionate, organized, and mission-driven Director of Volunteer Coordination (DVC) to lead and grow our volunteer engagement efforts.
This position recruits, trains, schedules, and supports individual volunteers, interns, and service groups while creating meaningful educational experiences that connect volunteers to La Puente’s mission. The DVC also supervises volunteer program staff and collaborates across all La Puente programs to identify service opportunities that strengthen our organization and community.
This role reports to the CVO
Key ResponsibilitiesVolunteer Program Leadership
- Recruit, onboard, train, and support individual volunteers
- Develop volunteer opportunities tailored to organizational needs
- Build recruitment strategies through community outreach, presentations, social media, newsletters, and partnerships
- Ensure volunteers have safe, meaningful, and well-supported experiences
- Maintain volunteer records, waivers, scheduling, and impact reporting
- Manage volunteer databases including Volgistics and donor relationship tools
Staff & Program Supervision
- Supervise the Community Volunteer Coordinator and seasonal volunteer staff
- Mentor AmeriCorps-supported team members
- Complete AmeriCorps reporting, evaluations, and compliance documentation
Work Group & Service Learning Coordination
- Recruit and host 30–40 service groups annually
- Coordinate projects, schedules, logistics, orientations, and educational programming
- Facilitate tours, presentations, and service-learning experiences
- Build long-term relationships with schools, churches, businesses, and service organizations
Internship & Community Partnerships
- Maintain and expand internship partnerships with colleges, universities, and local schools, including Adams State University
- Coordinate intern onboarding, documentation, supervision, and educational experiences
Events & Community Engagement
- Lead volunteer coordination for special events, including La Puente’s annual Thanksgiving celebration
- Support public presentations, tours, and community relationship-building
- Assist with cross-program support, including resource navigation and community referrals
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience
Experience
- Leadership or management experience
- Volunteer coordination, nonprofit management, education, or community engagement experience preferred
- Experience facilitating groups and public presentations
- Strong administrative, organizational, and project management skills

Working Conditions
