Position: Career & Technology Education (CTE) Teacher - Health Science

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Provide instruction to prepare students to successfully complete the Health Science Industry Certification Exams relevant to the courses being taught.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university preferred
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned:
- Health Science 6-12
- Health Science Technology Education: Grades 8-12
- Vocational Health Occupations
- Vocational Health Science Technology
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Alternative Certification Program applicants must have passed content exam(s) to be eligible for employment
- According to the LPISD Board adopted District of Innovation (DOI) plan, La Porte ISD may consider nontraditional Career and Technical Education (CTE) candidates who bring authentic field and industry knowledge and skills which would provide students with unparalleled learning experiences.
If not Texas certified, candidates considered may possess a combination of:
- Professional work experience;
- Formal training and education;
- Relevant industry licensure, certification, or registration; and/or
- Any combination of work experience, training and education, or industry credentials related to the subject matter he/she will be teaching.

The District contributes $400/month to the cost of employee only health insurance, which is $175/month greater than the state required amount of $225/month.

Salary:
- $63,000 for Beginning teacher with "0" years experience (Based on 2025-2026 Compensation Plan)
- $1,000 Master's Degree addenda
- Additional $1,000 Doctorate Degree addenda
Pay Grade: Certified Instructional, 10 Duty Months
