Job Summary
Job Summary
The teacher will provide academic instruction and behavioral support to students with diverse learning and social-emotional needs within a classroom setting. Responsibilities include designing and implementing individualized and small-group instructional strategies, differentiating curriculum to meet student needs, monitoring student progress, and collaborating with other teachers and support providers, as well as families to promote student achievement. The teacher will create a structured, engaging learning environment that fosters academic growth, social emotional learning opportunities, and positive student outcomes. As the teacher in this class setting the candidate must be able to create a structured classroom setting that includes academic and SEL components daily. Class size fluctuates throughout the school year and during times with fewer students job responsibilities may include visiting other middle schools to learn more about possible future students. The teacher will implement proactive behavior support strategies and evidence-based interventions to promote positive behavior, social skills development, and student self-regulation. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing academic and behavioral data, contributing to and implementing behavior support plans, teaching replacement behaviors, and responding to challenging behaviors in a safe, respectful, and consistent manner. The teacher works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that students receive comprehensive support that enables them to access instruction and participate successfully in the school environment. The teacher will also participate in weekly meetings with middle school teams as well as IEP meetings for students with IEP services to share progress and areas of need.
Requirements / Qualifications
CREDENTIAL/EDUCATION: -Valid California Teaching Credential (Multiple Subject, Single Subject or Education Specialist) with EL Authorization/CLAD or appropriate equivalent credential(s) -Pupil Personnel Services Counseling credential preferred, but not required.
EXPERIENCE: -Three years of teaching experience required. -Experience in data retrieval and analysis preferred. -Previously trained, or willing to be trained, in Pro-Act or other de-escalation techniques. MUST ATTACH THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS TO YOUR APPLICATION - Cover Letter/Letter of Introduction - Resume - 3 Letters of Recommendation (written within last 12 months) - Copy of credential(s) (CA CTC Website screenshot is acceptable) - College Transcripts (unofficial are ok-used for estimate of initial salary placement, will need official if hired) Please note; if selected, you will need to submit fingerprints for a background check/clearance prior to beginning employment.
