Position Summary
The Assistant Manager serves as a key operational leader supporting the General Manager and President in overseeing daily activities within the ticket office, gift shop, reservations, concessions, and guest service operations.
This hands-on position combines customer service, team leadership, and operational support to ensure guests enjoy a memorable and seamless experience from reservation to departure. The ideal candidate is professional, dependable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Operations
- Deliver exceptional customer service to guests in person, online, and over the phone
- Assist guests with cruise reservations, ticket sales, gift shop purchases, concessions, and general inquiries
- Maintain a visible leadership presence during busy periods to ensure efficient operations and guest satisfaction
- Resolve guest concerns professionally, positively, and promptly
- Support daily cruise operations and ensure a welcoming, guest-focused atmosphere
Leadership & Team Development
- Must be comfortable and responsible to open and close, cash handle and reconcile.
- Support, motivate, and work in conjunction with the team to deliver outstanding service.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and team-oriented work environment
- Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and strong work ethic
Administrative & Business Support
- Perform office operations, reporting, and record-keeping duties
- Maintain effective communication with management
- Assist with scheduling, operational coordination, and daily business needs
- Support initiatives that improve efficiency, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence
Product & Company Knowledge
- Develop extensive knowledge of cruise offerings, schedules, policies, promotions, and retail merchandise
- Assist guests in selecting cruise experiences, packages, and products that best meet their needs
- Serve as a knowledgeable ambassador for the La Crosse Queen brand and guest experience
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience

- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Adaptable, dependable, and capable of taking initiative
- Valid driver's license and have reliable transportation
Preferred Experience
- Hospitality, tourism, retail, attraction, entertainment, or guest service experience
- Leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred
- Experience with reservations systems, point-of-sale systems, or cash handling
- Experience working in a customer-facing environment
- High school diploma required; college coursework in hospitality, tourism, business, or related fields preferred
Scheduling Requirements
This position requires flexibility and the ability to work:

- Opening and closing shifts
Working Conditions
This role requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Work is performed primarily indoors with occasional outdoor exposure along the riverfront, boarding areas, and dock facilities.
