FOOD SERVICE WORKERS
3.75 hours per day, Monday through Friday with a work calendar of student instructional days plus two additional days (SY 2), considered to be a total of ten (10) months.

Brief Description of Position: As a food service worker, the primary responsibilities are to assist in the preparation and serving of school meals and maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen. Located at various school sites.
Qualifications:
1. Previous Experience: Experience in food service. Preferred: experience in cashiering desired.
2. Education: Equivalent to the completion of the eighth grade, high school equivalency desired.
Work Year: 3.75 hours per day, Monday through Friday with a work calendar of student instructional days plus two additional days (SY 2), considered to be a total of ten (10) months. Work hours tend to fall mid-morning to early afternoon. This position is considered to be a 0.4688 FTE position (46.88% of a full-time position). A six-month probationary period must be passed before a newly hired employee becomes permanent with the District.
Salary: Placement is dependent on previous experience as a food services worker. The monthly salary, dependent on experience, is $1,417.34 to $1,808.93, which is commensurate to $17.44 to $22.26 per hour. A new classified employee must pass a 6-month probationary period to become a permanent employee of the District.
Benefits: This position does not meet the qualifications for District benefits.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Examples of duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Prepares and serves food under the direction of the Cafeteria/Kitchen Lead or Supervisor.
- Follows approved housekeeping and safety practices and maintains sanitary working conditions.
- Washes all pots, pans and cooking utensils.
- Cleans all equipment and counters daily.
- Does minimal cooking.
- Completes simple reports as requested.
- Assists with the receiving, unloading and storage of all food and supplies.
- Attends in-service training meetings as required.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Rules and regulations of the Food Service Department.
- Rules and regulations pertaining to health, safety and sanitation in Food Service.
- Proper use, maintenance, cleaning and sanitation of food service equipment.
- Proper cooking methods for large quantity foods.
Must Be Able To:
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Work safely, rapidly and accurately.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull moderately heavy objects.
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Reach overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally.
- Bend at the waist.
- Be dependable in accepting responsibility.
- Work effectively with all levels of District personnel, students, and the public.
- Perform in situations using good judgment.
- Present a positive image of the District and Food Service Department and their operation to the public.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with supervisor and others contacted in the course of work responsibilities.
