Our firm is looking for an individual that is a Rockstar with a can-do attitude to join our dynamic team. This position is considered a full-time position M-F starting at 7:00 a.m. under the leadership of the Ops. Mgr. This role requires the person to work on site with weekends as needed. You must be able to travel up to 25%. There is no relocation for this position.
- Maintaining a safe working environment by complying with all safety policies and procedures by using the appropriate tools and indicated individuals for the task.

- Candid communication with upper management about job and anything related to the job i.e., scheduling, job requirements, employees, subs, equipment, etc. as well as coordinating weekly look ahead.
- Responsible for field implementation of contract documents.
- Lead field operations, job assignments, and crews assigned to you.
- Fostering positive relationships with team members, subcontractors, and clients. Practice empathy, diplomacy, and networking while contributing to the overall success of the organization.
- Supervising & mentoring foreman’s daily assignments.
- Analyzing construction equipment requirements and maintenance.
- Maintaining daily records of significant project facts, events, and conditions.
- Entering daily project data including but not limited to labor, equipment, and quantity reporting.
- Making sound business decisions. Understanding of soil conditions, utility conflicts, and other factors affecting the daily operation of jobs.
- Collaborating with job owners ensuring customer satisfaction. Ensure quality inspections are up to spec. Constant communication with job owners to address any issues or concerns.
- Ongoing training with new & seasoned employees to ensure a safety culture.
- Operating equipment as needed, i.e. take initiative to complete the task if understaffed or delegate the task to a field operator or foreman.
Skills You Bring to the Organization:
- Construction technology, including GPS, lasers, and slope control.
- Thorough understanding of construction drawings, standards, and specifications.
- Wide knowledge of erosion control installation, maintenance, and documentation.
- Familiar with traffic control standards.
- Expert in reading & interpreting blueprints.
- Advanced critical thinking skills. Must be a problem solver and adapt to unexpected daily disruptions or changes.
- Must effectively manage a group of 5-10 employees, resolve issues, address questions or concerns as they arise plus effective delegation with priority to task.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism & ethical practices including adhering to work schedules, following safety protocols, and conflict resolution.
- Emotional intelligence. Be proactive instead of reactive. Ability to funnel criticism, stress, and pressure with perseverance.
- Meeting deadlines while managing unexpected setbacks.
- Attention to details with precise execution of plans, adherence to specifications, and quality control.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management, or a combination of 7-10 years’ experience as a grading/excavation superintendent with working knowledge of heavy civil construction & estimating.
- Solid Background in project start-up meetings, sub-contractor, and vendor by-outs, owner estimates, sub / vendor requisitions and cost-to-completes.
- Superior verbal & written communication skills
- Excellent Soft Skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office, Agtek, Windows Environment and Microsoft Project skills
- Working knowledge of estimating, engineering, cost tracking systems, and site surveying
- Contract Negotiations
- Valid NC Driver’s License
· Frequently lift 50-70 lbs.
· Requires prolonged standing and walking. Constant bending, stooping, climbing and stretching.
