Position Overview:
As a Utility Machine Operator, you will operate a variety of mechanical and computer-aided woodworking machines to produce high-quality furniture parts. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of wood species, and the ability to maintain dimensional accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify and grade various wood species (e.g., Cherry, Mahogany, Oak, Maple, Birch, Veneers) according to Stickley standards
- Read and interpret production tickets and part drawings
- Operate and maintain woodworking machinery (mechanical and CNC)
- Set up jobs efficiently to minimize downtime and maximize output
- Inspect parts for quality, yield, and dimensional accuracy
- Perform and log preventive maintenance tasks
- Assist with material handling and off-bearing as needed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
Qualifications:
- Prior experience operating woodworking or manufacturing machinery
- Ability to identify wood species and make grading decisions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to read blueprints and production documents
- Comfortable working in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Team-oriented with a strong work ethic
