Mail Shop Mail Helper

L & E Meridian, a full- service Direct Mail Production company located in Springfield, VA, is seeking a detail-oriented Mail Shop Mail Helper for our busy Mail Department. The Mail Helper will be responsible for accurately sorting and preparing mail for distribution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (1st shift 6 am-2:30 pm; 2nd Shift 2:30 pm- 11:00 pm)

- Knowledgeable of First Class and standard sorting requirements and regulations.
- Sort incoming and outgoing mail by hand or by operating mail processing equipment
- Ensure mail is sorted accurately according to destination and type
- Prepare mail for distribution by packaging, labeling, and sealing items
- Operate machinery such as postage meters and mail sorters
- Maintain a clean and organized work area

Experience/Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a warehouse or Mail Room distribution center preferred

- Be able to perform quick basic counting math.

- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential inforamtion. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 60 pounds.

This position may involve heavy lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate should be organized, efficient, and able to work well under pressure.
