Purpose of Position/Summary:
The Performance Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales growth and technical support within the ride control product segment, including shocks, dampers, and related suspension components. This role bridges engineering expertise with commercial strategy, supporting customers, identifying market opportunities, and delivering high performance solutions within the automotive aftermarket.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development
• Drive sales growth for performance ride control products across assigned territories and channels
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, and key accounts
• Identify high-potential applications and regional sales opportunities
• Provide technical sales support to customers, ensuring proper product selection and application
• Analyze competitor offerings, pricing, and positioning to strengthen market competitiveness
• Support channel development and expansion strategies
Technical Expertise & Product Support
• Provide expert knowledge on ride control systems, including shocks, dampers, springs, bushings, and mounting components
• Educate customers on how ride control components impact vehicle dynamics, stability, and performance
• Assist in product selection, troubleshooting, and technical training for internal teams and customers
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to support new product development and improvements
Market Intelligence & Strategy
• Maintain strong knowledge of automotive aftermarket trends and high-selling applications by region
• Track and evaluate competitor products, technologies, and brand positioning
• Identify emerging opportunities in performance and quality ride control segments as assigned
Marketing Support
• Collaborate with marketing teams to support product launches and promotional initiatives
• Provide insights into performance ride control marketing channels and customer engagement strategies
• Assist in budgeting and planning for marketing programs and campaigns
• Support development of technical content, training materials, and sales tools
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, related engineering discipline, or Business degree preferred
• 3–5 years of experience in the automotive aftermarket industry or related field preferred
• 3–5 years of experience in chassis, suspension, or ride control product sales or related field preferred
Technical Knowledge
• Strong understanding of ride control systems and vehicle dynamics
• Knowledge of vibration absorption principles and key suspension components
• Familiarity with engineering and sales processes for performance and quality automotive parts
Sales & Business Acumen
• Strong understanding of market trends, customer networks, and sales channels
• Knowledge of popular brands and applications within the performance aftermarket
• Proven ability to identify and capitalize on sales opportunities
Skills & Competencies
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
• Ability to translate technical concepts into customer focused solutions

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This position does not have any subordinate associates reporting to it.
Difficulty of Work:
The Sales Manager would need to display a professional attitude displaying the vital importance of professional communication between KYB and our customers and associates.
Responsibility:
- The Sales Manager must have prior approval from the Director of Operations and or the Vice President to enter in any binding agreements regarding Supply Agreements, Pricing Agreements etc. before execution of those agreements. Overnight travel is needed based on customer requirements and demands. Willingness to travel as needed to support customers and business development efforts up to 30-40%
Personal Work Relationships:
- Willingness to travel as needed to support customers and business development efforts up to 30-40%
- Ability to work cohesively with sales, engineering, and marketing teams
- works with multiple departments and divisions within KAC in addition to outside vendors, direct customers, service providers and various parts professionals. Each relationship.
Professional communication is essential in this position.
Physical Effort:
Physical requirements include, but are not limited to, sitting for an extended amount of time, constant visual, auditory and vocal stimulation, prolonged periods of typing, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion with or without reasonable accommodations. This position must be able to drive or fly for extended periods of time.
Working Conditions:
Normal work conditions consist of wearing office casual work attire, maintaining a professional work demeanor and wearing the proper safety apparel when entering the Distribution Center. In addition to domestic and international travel, this position will be provided an office in Greenwood, IN with the proper equipment to fulfill the job responsibilities.
