Commercial Dock & Door Service Technician

About the Position

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Dock & Door Service Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing commercial doors, loading dock equipment, and related systems at customer locations throughout the Metro Detroit area.

The right person is mechanically inclined, dependable, comfortable working independently, and takes pride in doing quality work. You will interact directly with customers, diagnose equipment problems, complete repairs, and make sure each job is completed safely and professionally.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial doors and loading dock equipment
• Service equipment such as dock levelers, dock plates, vehicle restraints, dock shelters, seals, and related components
• Repair and install commercial overhead, sectional, rolling steel, high-speed, pedestrian, and other commercial doors
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational problems and determine the appropriate repair
• Install and troubleshoot commercial door and dock operators
• Perform basic electrical and low-voltage wiring as required
• Safely operate lifts, ladders, and other equipment necessary to complete service work
• Maintain an organized inventory of parts and materials in the service vehicle
• Complete accurate service documentation using a company tablet or mobile device
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding equipment conditions, repairs, and recommendations
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Drive to commercial customer locations throughout the service area
• Follow company safety procedures and manufacturer recommendations

What We're Looking For

Experience with commercial doors, loading docks, overhead doors, or related equipment is preferred, but we are willing to train the right mechanically skilled candidate.

• Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills
• Ability to diagnose problems and determine practical solutions
• Experience using common hand and power tools
• Ability to work independently in the field
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Professional communication and customer service skills
• Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
• Ability to work safely from ladders, lifts, and elevated work areas
• Ability to work at heights when required
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to use a smartphone/tablet for service documentation
