What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Behavioral Technician position at KVC Health Systems?

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Full Time - Evening & Weekends

What if your workday could be measured not just by what you accomplish, but by the lives you help change?

As a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) at KVC, you will be part of a team supporting children and adolescents as they build skills, navigate challenges, and move toward brighter futures. Your work will be hands-on, purposeful, and deeply connected to the people we serve. With an 83 Work Wellbeing Score on Indeed, KVC is a place where your work can have meaning while you grow alongside a team that believes in compassion, collaboration, and doing what is right for the people in our care.

What You'll Bring

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 20 years of age.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred from an accredited college or university in a related field such as: Social Work, Social Services, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Education, Criminal Justice/Criminology
  • Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
  • One to three years of related experience and/or training in a related field.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, as an essential function of the position.

KVC will consider reasonable accommodations, consistent with applicable law, to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.

What You'll Do

As an RBT, you'll provide direct care, behavioral support, supervision, and safety while helping create an environment where young people can learn, grow, and feel supported.

You will:

Implement individualized behavioral interventions and protocols under clinical direction.

Work directly from each patient's treatment plan to support meaningful behavioral and skill-development goals.

Observe behavior and collect accurate, objective data using approved tools and procedures.

Document behavioral services, interventions, and patient responses accurately and on time.

Apply evidence-informed skill-acquisition, replacement-behavior, prompting, reinforcement, and behavior-reduction strategies as trained and assigned.

Communicate observations, behavioral trends, implementation barriers, and concerns to the supervising clinician and Treatment Team.

Recognize when changes in behavior, safety risks, or intervention response require clinical escalation.

Participate in supervision, competency validation, feedback, and fidelity reviews.

Maintain your RBT certification and complete required training and supervision.

Help create and maintain a safe, secure, nurturing, and positive living and learning environment.

Treat every young person as an individual and provide care consistent with their treatment plan.

This Role Is Active, Hands-On, and Purposeful

This isn't a desk-bound position. You'll be moving throughout the facility and patient-care areas, spending significant time standing and walking, observing the environment, interacting with patients, and responding to changing situations.

The role may involve:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, climbing, and balancing.
  • Using hands and fingers to operate equipment and complete documentation.
  • Close visual observation of patients and the environment.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling equipment or items as needed — up to 10 pounds regularly, 25 pounds frequently, and 75 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Working with patients who may exhibit unsafe behaviors or require assistance with activities of daily living.

Because this is a safety-sensitive position, you must be able to remain alert, attentive, and responsive throughout scheduled work hours.

Required training, including crisis prevention/intervention and safety-hold training when applicable, and demonstrated competency are conditions of employment.

At KVC, the heart of our work is helping people.

We believe our character is built on authenticity and compassion. Family connection drives our culture. Collaboration fuels our improvement. Urgency and innovation shape how we respond to challenges. Diverse perspectives make our organization stronger. We're looking for people who can be trusted to show up with empathy, professionalism, sound judgment, and a solutions-focused mindset.

You will work alongside children, adolescents, families, colleagues, and community partners — and your ability to build genuine, respectful relationships matters just as much as your technical skills. Every interaction can be an opportunity to build trust. Every observation can reveal a new path forward. Every skill you help develop can become a steppingstone toward greater independence.

If you're an RBT who wants your work to matter — and you're ready to bring compassion, energy, professionalism, and purpose to the people you serve — we want to hear from you.

Join KVC and help make someone's next chapter possible.
