Foster Care Case Manager

Location: Columbia, Missouri
Work Schedule: Some remote work opportunities may become available over time. During the first year of employment, employees should expect to work primarily in the office, at designated training locations, or in the field directly supporting children and families.
Pay: $43,888–$46,000 annually, based on education and relevant experience

$1,000 Sign-On Bonus — Paid after successfully completing 90 days of employment.*

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Education, or another related human services field preferred.

Experience & Skills

Prior case management or child welfare experience is not required. We provide comprehensive training, hands-on support, ongoing supervision, mentoring, and supportive leadership to help you succeed in the role.

You will be successful in this role if you can:

Document clearly and accurately: Maintain detailed, timely, and professional documentation while managing multiple deadlines and responsibilities.

Think critically: Gather information, assess situations, identify concerns, and make thoughtful decisions based on the needs and best interests of children and families.

Resolve conflict: Remain calm and professional during difficult conversations, work through disagreements, and help identify solutions when situations are challenging.

Communicate effectively: Clearly communicate with children, families, foster parents, schools, service providers, courts, and other professionals.

Build relationships: Establish trust and maintain professional relationships with families, children, and community partners, even when circumstances are difficult.

Stay organized: Manage appointments, meetings, documentation, case responsibilities, and competing priorities while meeting deadlines.

Problem-solve: Approach complex situations with curiosity, sound judgment, and a solution-focused mindset.

Work independently: Feel comfortable working in the community and managing your responsibilities while knowing when to seek guidance or support.

Receive and apply feedback: Be open to coaching, supervision, and ongoing professional development.

Advocate for children and families: Understand different perspectives, identify needs, and work toward solutions that support safety, stability, and permanency.

Who This Role Is For

This position is a strong fit for someone who is looking to start or build a career in social work, child welfare, or human services and wants meaningful, hands-on experience working with children and families.

You may be a recent bachelor's degree graduate, someone transitioning into the human services field, or someone with experience working with people who is ready to take the next step in their career.

A bachelor's degree is required.

Experience working with children, families, schools, behavioral health, community programs, advocacy, crisis situations, or other human services settings is a plus
