JOB SUMMARY
Kutak Rock LLP seeks a full-time associate attorney to join the Litigation Department in its Philadelphia office. The ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience handling insurance coverage and bad faith litigation. Other litigation experience, including insurance defense and/or creditors rights litigation may be helpful and will be considered.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examine and assess claims
- Prepare coverage opinion letters
- Perform legal research
- Prepare pleadings, motions and discovery responses
- Oversee document production
- Prepare for and conduct depositions
- Attend court proceedings
QUALIFICATIONS: Skills & Abilities
- Strong verbal communication and writing skills
- Excellent judgment
- Ability and confidence to work independently
QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school required. Preference given to those with strong academic credentials
- Currently admitted to practice in Pennsylvania with an active bar license in good standing required.
- Either currently admitted to practice in New Jersey with an active bar license in good standing OR be able to obtain New Jersey bar license within one year
- Admitted to practice in New York a plus, but not required
- 3 years of relevant experience
- Experience representing the insurer in litigation involving the following: commercial lines policies, personal lines policies, and umbrella and excess policies.
- Experience analyzing coverage questions, preparing opinions, and litigating coverage claims, including taking cases through discovery and dispositive motion practice
- Experience litigating insurance bad faith and extracontractual claims through dispositive motion practice
- Trial experience is a plus
