JOB SUMMARY
Kutak Rock LLP seeks a Director of Human Resource to join its national Human Resource Department. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the Director of Human Resources is responsible for overseeing firmwide human resources programs and policies in the areas of operations, compliance, employee relations, performance management, talent management, leadership and professional development, engagement, and retention. Qualified candidates will have experience in leading human resource teams, advising leadership with solutions for human resources issues and evolving organizational needs, and enjoy implementing and overseeing technology programs to facilitate processes and provide data and reporting on HR activity.
This full-time, hybrid position is available to candidates in close proximity to one of the following firm offices: Atlanta, GA; Denver, CO; Fayetteville, AR; Irvine, CA; Little Rock, AR; Los Angeles, CA; Kansas City, MO; Minneapolis, MN; Omaha, NE; Philadelphia, PA; Richmond, VA; Scottsdale, AZ; Spokane, WA; Springfield, MO; Tallahassee, FL; or Washington, DC.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participate in long-term strategic planning to oversee the performance management lifecycle, talent development initiatives, retention practices, compliance programs, and employee relations issues that arise firm-wide
  • Supervise and develop Human Resource team, facilitating professional development and department strategies
  • Lead and resolve complex employee relations issue through thorough and objective investigations, while ensuring consistent application of employee relations practices in collaboration with labor and employment counsel and the general counsel’s office
  • Manage continuous review and improvement of the employee life cycle processes, from recruitment through onboarding, retention, performance evaluations, compensation, development and offboarding
  • Utilize data and analytics to drive strategy decision making, benchmark and recommend policy improvements, and develops initiatives to address key drivers of employee satisfaction
  • Establish and implement human resources strategy that supports the firm’s mission and strategic vision in the areas of talent acquisition, human resources information systems (HRIS), and professional development
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local legal requirements by understanding existing and new legislation and enforcing adherence to requirements
  • Oversee enforcement of and evaluation of legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Champion the design, communication, and implementation of firm’s professional development programs for attorneys and professional staff
  • Function as a strategic business advisor to stakeholders regarding key issues in the areas of talent acquisition, HRIS, and professional development for legal and professional staff
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with attorneys and professional staff across 18 offices
QUALIFICATIONS: Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of Federal and multi-state/local employment laws
  • Comprehensive understanding of best practices in Human Resources
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability to influence outcomes effectively through outstanding interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in various software technologies including Microsoft 365 and HRIS platforms
  • Ability to work independently and in a remote/virtual environment
QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related area required, master’s degree preferred
    SHRM or HRCI certification (SHRM-SC/SCP or PHR, SPHR) preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of related Human Resource experience with progressive increase in responsibility and at least 3 years in a Human Resource leadership or management position
Position Information
Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $155,000-$200,000 base salary per year, commensurate with education and experience
Work Arrangement: Hybrid 3:2 in of the following firm offices: Atlanta, GA; Denver, CO; Fayetteville, AR; Irvine, CA; Little Rock, AR; Los Angeles, CA; Kansas City, MO; Minneapolis, MN; Omaha, NE; Philadelphia, PA; Richmond, VA; Scottsdale, AZ; Spokane, WA; Springfield, MO; Tallahassee, FL; or Washington, DC.
