Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Take and develop X-ray images while adhering to strict HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy and confidentiality. Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history and treatment plans. Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow and patient comfort. Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging procedures when necessary, especially in pediatric or medically complex cases. Maintain infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and understanding anatomy knowledge to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with familiarity in dental terminology, medical terminology, and dental clinic operations. Strong knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes. Experience working with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient safety standards. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience assisting in pediatric cases preferred. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics. Certification in dental assisting or relevant training; additional certifications in medical coding or medical records are advantageous.
